Followers are replacing the retired Favourites function. This breakdown covers new public visibility settings and how to import your list.
As we continue to develop the new Recon, we want to introduce and explain what our members will need to know about our newest feature before the change - Followers.
Q: What are the differences between Favourites & Followers?
Followers act almost identically to the soon to be retired Favourites function, allowing members to get regular updates on their Feed about posts made by other members. The main difference between the two functions is the visibility of this information, with Favourites being entirely private whilst Followers are public.
This means that members you follow and those that visit your profile can see your Followers / Following list when they visit your profile.
You can find a simplified list of the differences between Favourites and Followers below:
| Feature | Favourites (Old) | Followers (New) |
| Feed Updates | Photos Only | Photos, Profile Bio & Interests |
| Notifications | Members are not notified that they have been favourited. | Members are notified that they have been followed |
| Control | Cannot be removed by the other member | Members can remove followers |
| Visibility | Entirely private | Public (visible on your profile) |
Q: How do I import my Favourites?
All members will be able to seamlessly import members currently marked as a Favourite all at once, converting them to followed members and adding them to your Following list.
- Log in to recon.com or the Recon iOS app.
- Navigate to your Profile.
- Select the Following list.
- Select the Follow Your Favourites button.
After you have imported your Favourites once, you can continue to use the existing version of Recon as normal and any new favourites will be automatically followed. Now that the existing version of Recon is retired, any members that didn't perform an import will be required to manage any imported Favourites as Followers exclusively on the new version of Recon.
