Unpublished profiles will be deleted during the v3 migration unless the account has been fully registered and logged into. Preserve data by accessing the account before the deadline.
With the switch to the new Recon imminent, the team has been working diligently to ensure that the transition is seamless for all of our members. Members who have completed the onboarding process, verified their email address, and successfully logged into their Recon account will automatically have their data migrated without needing to take any further action.
Accounts that have not completed the steps above are considered to be in “Guest” mode. This status occurs because some required information is missing, or the email address has not yet been verified. For this reason, “Guest” accounts will NOT be transferred and will be permanently deleted once the current version of Recon is retired. This process is irreversible, and affected members will be required to create a new account to use Recon again.
Q: How do I know if my account is considered a “Guest” account?
A: If your Recon account meets any of the following criteria, it is considered a “Guest” account and you will need to take action before 7 June 2026:
- The onboarding process was not completed after registration (e.g. Interests Selection, Profile Text, Initial Photo Uploaded);
- The registered email address was never successfully verified;
- The registered email address has been returning as “Invalid” for seven days, meaning we are unable to contact you;
- The account is currently in “Guest Mode” due to one of the above reasons.
Q: How do I prevent my account from being permanently deleted?
A: To ensure that your account is not deleted during the transition to the new version of Recon, you must log in and have completed the following steps:
- Onboarding Process
Upon registering a Recon account, members must have fully completed the initial onboarding process. This includes the successful creation of the account, selecting interests, choosing profile stats and uploading an initial profile photo. You can confirm this has been completed if you can successfully interact with other members directly (e.g. sending them a message). If not, you will be prompted with a checklist on what still needs to be completed.
Verified Email Address
During the registration process, an email is sent to your registered address to verify your account. This confirms that you have access to the e-mail address you have input and that we can contact you where necessary. Verification is a vital part of the onboarding process, which cannot be completed without fulfilling this step.- Valid Email Address
Email addresses can sometimes be marked as “Invalid” if we are unable to contact you. The most common reasons for this include a full inbox, our emails being blocked or marked as spam, or a typo in the address. If this occurs, you will be automatically notified on your Home Feed and given seven days to rectify the issue before your account is placed into “Guest” mode. Members must ensure that their email address is correct and that we are not blocked from sending important account updates.
Whilst the transition to the new Recon will occur shortly after 7 June 2026, we highly recommend taking action as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Furthermore, as we approach the deadline, service stability may vary while we switch off specific systems to prepare for the transition. This may prevent you from completing the necessary steps if left until the last minute.
