How do I deactivate/hide my account?

From time to time, you may wish to take a break from Recon and hide your profile from view. Instead of deleting your account and having to create your profile again, you can simply deactivate your account until you are ready to use Recon again.

How do I deactivate/reactivate my account? 

Click on the Main Menu button menu button.PNGin the top right of the website and click on "Settings".

Under the "Account" tab, listed in the "Manage My Account" section, click on the X icon next to the option labelled "Deactivate my Account".

You will then be prompted to confirm if you wish to deactivate your account. Clicking on "Yes" will immediately deactivate your account.

To reactivate your account, simply log into your Recon using your email address and password log in combination.

What happens to my profile & messages if deactivate my account?

Once your account is deactivated, your profile will no longer be visible to other members on Recon. You won't be able to browse or interact with profiles, access your Message Centre or respond to messages until you log back in to your Recon account, which will reactivate your profile.

Your profile will appear as "Profile Not Found" to users that attempt to access your profile, for example through typing your unique profile link into a browser or trying to access your profile through their Message Centre or Friends List.

Any messages sent or photos shared will remain visible to both parties.

How long can I keep my account deactivated?

Accounts that are deactivated can remain in this state for a maximum of 3 years (1095 calendar days) and a subsequent 30 days from the date that the most recent account deactivation occurred. After 1095 days of consecutive deactivation days, you will be sent a notice email to inform you that your account and the attached profile will be automatically deleted from our database in 30 days.

Note: if our emails have been blocked or marked as Spam by your email domain or manually, you may not receive our notice emails!

If you fail to reactivate your account in the final 30 days by logging into your account, your account will be permanently deleted, and you will need to create a new one to continue using Recon.

- Day 0: Account Deactivated
- Day 1095: Account Deletion Notice
- Day 1125: Account Permanently Deleted

HOW DO I MAKE MY PROFILE VISIBLE / INVISIBLE?

Tap the Main Menu in the top left corner and tap Settings.

You'll see 2 tabs at the top, "Account" and "Preferences". Tap the Accounts tab.

In the "Manage My Account" section, you can either select or de-select the "Hidden Member" preference.

Once you have finished making your changes, you can tap the back arrow at the top or if back on your device and navigating elsewhere. 

WILL ANYTHING HAPPEN TO MY PROFILE & MESSAGES IF I CHANGE MY VISIBILITY SETTINGS?
