Managing your location settings ensures your profile appears on the Recon Nearby list. This breakdown details how to reset your permissions.
Recon is a location-based platform and to ensure that your profile can appear on the “Nearby” List, we require all members to input either a manual location or allow access to their GPS location data.
You are able to switch between the methods whenever you want, but the method to do this differs depending on how you are accessing Recon. Please click the relevant device section below to view instructions tailored to your specific device:
Web Browser / Progressive Web App (Desktop)
Open your preferred browser and login to your account on
recon.com.
Click on the “View Site Information” icon in the URL bar.
This will look like a padlock or settings icon.
Click “Reset Permissions”.
Click “Cookies and Site Data” and then click “Manage On-Device Site Data”.
Click the Bin icon to delete any data shown to be collected by
recon.com.
Refresh your browser or click the “Reload” button if
prompted and login to your account.
Web Browser / Progressive Web App (Android)
Open the same browser you used to install the app and login to your account
on
recon.com.
Tap on the “Site Permissions” icon in the URL bar. This
will look like a padlock or settings icon.
Tap on “Permissions” and then “Reset Permissions”.
Tap on “Cookies and Site Data”.
Tap on the Bin icon to delete any data shown to be collected by
recon.com.
Refresh the app/browser or close and re-open the app and login to your
account.
iOS Dedicated App (installed from App Store)
Open your iPhone's Settings app and scroll down to “Apps”
(or scroll to the bottom of the page on older devices to see your installed
apps).
Tap on the Recon app in your list of installed apps.
Tap on “Location” and change the option to your preferred
choice.
Close and re-open the Recon app and login to your account.
iOS Progressive Web App (installed from Browser)
Open your iPhone's Settings app and scroll down to “Apps”
(or scroll to the bottom of the page on older devices to see your installed
apps).
Tap on the Browser app you used to install the PWA in your
list of apps.
Tap on “Location” and change the option to your preferred
choice.
Close and re-open the Recon app and login to your account.
Click on "Safari" and then click on "Settings"
(or "Preferences" on older macOS versions).
Click on the "Websites" tab at the top of the window and
under the list of permissions, click on "Location"
Locate Recon.com listed under the "Configured Websites"
section and change the option to your preferred choice.
Click on the "Privacy" tab at the top of the window and
click "Manage Website Data".
Use the search bar to type in Recon.com, select the site from the list and click "Remove" and then click "Done".
Safari Browser (iPhone / iPad)
Open your iPhone's Settings app and scroll down to “Apps”
(or scroll to the bottom of the page on older devices to see your installed
apps).
Tap on the Browser app you used to install the PWA in your
list of apps.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap on "Advanced".
Tap on "Website Data", search for Recon.com, then swipe
left on its name and tap "Delete".
Once you have completed the relevant steps, you will then be given the option to either choose your GPS location or to choose a manual location to place your profile.
