Deactivating your profile temporarily hides your presence on Recon. This breakdown covers the step-by-step process and account timeframes.
You may wish to take a break from Recon and hide your profile from view. Instead of deleting your account and having to create a new profile, you can simply deactivate your account until you are ready to use Recon again.
Deactivation is a quick and easy way to ensure that your presence on Recon is temporarily hidden, preventing you from being interacted with or seen by other members. Your profile will no longer be visible to other members on Recon and you won't be able to browse or interact with profiles, access your Message Centre or respond to messages until you log back in to your Recon account, which will reactivate your profile.
Any messages sent or photos sent to other members will still remain visible for a recipient whilst your account is deactivated.
To deactivate your account, follow the relevant steps below:
Web / PWA (Desktop):
- Open your preferred browser and login to your account on recon.com.
- Click on the three-line menu button (☰) in the top-right corner of the navigation bar.
- Click on “Settings” and then the “Account” option.
- Click the “Deactivate My Account” option.
- Click the red “Deactivate My Account” button and follow the prompt.
Web / PWA (Mobile):
- Open your preferred browser or the PWA app and login to your account on recon.com.
- Navigate to your “Profile” by tapping the icon in the navigation bar (this will display your Main Profile Photo if you have one uploaded).
- Tap on the three-line menu button (☰) in the top-right corner of the navigation bar.
- Tap on “Settings” and then the “Account” option.
- Tap the “Deactivate My Account” option.
- Tap the red “Deactivate My Account” button and follow the prompt.
Dedicated App (iOS):
- Open the Recon app and login to your account.
- Navigate to your “Profile” by tapping the icon in the navigation bar (this will display your Main Profile Photo if you have one uploaded).
- Tap on the three-line menu button (☰) in the bottom-right corner of the navigation bar.
- Tap on “Settings” and then the “Account” option.
- Tap the “Deactivate My Account” option.
- Tap the red “Deactivate My Account” button and follow the prompt.
Accounts that are deactivated can remain in this state for a maximum of 3 years (1095 calendar days) and a subsequent 30 days from the date that the most recent account deactivation occurred. After 1095 days of consecutive deactivation days, you will be sent a notice email to inform you that your account and the attached profile will be automatically deleted from our database in 30 days.
NOTE: if our emails have been blocked or marked as spam by your email provider or manually, you will not receive our service emails informing you of the status of your account!
If you fail to reactivate your account in the final 30 days by logging into your account, your account will be permanently deleted, and you will need to create a new one to continue using Recon.
